The wonders of the world are various lists that are comprised of the most awe inspiring and breathtaking natural or man-made landmarks on our Earth. Because each "wonder" is special in its own way, whether it is because it is naturally made or it's past is so mysterious for example, they can not all be combined into just 7. For that reason, there are many different types of lists including modern, ancient, medieval and natural wonders to just name a few. So there are no "7 wonders of the world", there are many different types of the "7 wonders of the world."

         The earliest collection of wonders was found in 1498 in the Netherlands which was called "The History of Architecture." This was the first collection of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, however, only one of the 7 is still left standing today; The Great Pyramids of Gaza. This list has since be put back together and is now called the 7 wonders of the Ancient World. 

          Because it has been, in some cases, over 20 years since these lists were put together or longer, the United Nations has commissioned, "New7Wonders" to put together the revised list of wonders of the world.
